Today the IL House of Representatives passed HB141 unanimously, so now it is going to the Senate. Thank you IL House Representative and Rep. Dan Reitz for being chief sponsor of the bill.
This bill amends the Radon Awareness Act to provide tenants some notification of elevated levels of radon in a dwelling. If a tenant conducts a radon test and the level is elevated and the tenant notifies the landlord in writing of the result, the landlord must reveal this to the next tenant unless a mitigation has been performed and a subsequent test shows otherwise.
This bill does not mandate radon testing in rental property, however.
